Hello everyone! It’s been a while since I’ve been able to sit down and give you a proper life update. Honestly, the past month or so has been a bit of a whirlwind, and this post is going to be a bit of a reflective one, filled with both good news and some challenges. Let’s catch up, shall we?
The House That Wasn’t
First things first, we’re not moving, which has been one of the more difficult developments recently. We had found a house that we absolutely loved. It was in the perfect location, just 20 minutes from my parents, and about an hour from G’s family. The house itself was spacious enough to host both sides of the family, and we were already planning Christmas with everyone. We had imagined cosy gatherings where my parents, sister, and G’s stepdad and gran could all stay over.
It was exciting to think about making everyone feel welcome in our new home. The place was perfect for the kind of family holidays we always dreamt of. Everything seemed to be falling into place smoothly, but, as life often goes, things didn’t quite work out the way we hoped.
Unfortunately, just as we were getting our hopes up and starting to envision what life would be like in that new house, the deal fell through. It was really heartbreaking, to say the least. We had already mentally moved in, planned out rooms, and pictured what the holidays would look like. But life had other plans for us, and the search continues.
A Pause in Life
On top of the house situation, you probably noticed that I took a bit of a break from everything over the past month. It wasn’t intentional at first, but sometimes life gets so busy that you have to take a step back and just breathe. Between work, family, and the emotional rollercoaster that comes with buying a house (or trying to), I needed a moment to collect myself.
It’s been hard, but I’ve learned the importance of self-care during times like these. There’s a certain pressure that comes with keeping everything going all the time—work, social life, personal projects—but in moments like these, I’ve realised that it’s okay to slow down. Giving myself permission to take a break was one of the best decisions I made this year.
Moving Forward
While we’re not moving into our dream house just yet, I am trying to stay optimistic. If there’s one thing this whole experience has taught me, it’s that sometimes the universe has other plans, and that’s okay. I believe the right house is still out there, waiting for us.
In the meantime, we’re focusing on making our current place feel as cosy and “us” as possible. After all, home isn’t just about the physical space—it’s about the memories you create, the people you invite in, and the love you put into every corner. We’ve been doing some small DIY projects around the house, and I’ve rediscovered my love for interior decorating. Even though this isn’t the home we envisioned for the long term, it’s still ours, and there’s something special about that.
A New Chapter for Us
Losing the house, while difficult, has brought another aspect of our lives into clearer focus—our family. It’s no secret that expanding our family has been something G and I have talked about for a long time. With the house plans on pause, we’ve decided to direct our energy into making that dream a reality.
This next part is quite personal, and while I don’t want to get into too many details, let’s just say that we’re ready to seek a bit of help. It’s been an emotional journey, but we’ve reached a point where we’re committed to exploring all the options available to us. We’re hopeful, but also realistic, about the path ahead.
This isn’t something we’ve spoken about much before, but I feel like now is the right time to share it. While it’s not easy, we’re approaching this with optimism and love, and I feel like this is a step that’s bringing us even closer together as a couple. The uncertainty is still there, but so is our determination to make this dream come true.
What’s Next?
As for what’s coming next, I’m not entirely sure. The house hunt will continue, of course, and I’m hopeful that the right opportunity will come along when the time is right. In the meantime, I’m focusing on being present and appreciating the small things. Whether it’s finding joy in a simple DIY project or spending quality time with family, I’ve learned to embrace the slower pace that life has set for me at the moment.
I’ll be sure to keep you updated as things progress, but for now, I’m focusing on staying grounded, taking things one day at a time, and remembering that sometimes, when plans fall apart, it’s just making space for something even better to come along.
Conclusion
Life doesn’t always go as planned, but I’ve found peace in the uncertainty. While the house may not have worked out, I’ve learned that home is more than just four walls—it’s the love, memories, and moments you create along the way. As we continue to search for our next adventure, I’m taking comfort in the present and the support of loved ones around me. Thanks for sticking around, and I’ll be sure to share more updates soon!
